LL's 17

Whilst the Super Junior fans race their way to the Putra Indoor stadium with much anticipation for their long-awaited concert, the Foo family went to Unique Seafood to celebrate our second princess's 17th birthday instead..

I didn't know unique = 奇怪 in Chinese..isn't it suppose to be 特别? =.=

As I enter, a breeze of familiarity hit me, this place is very much like the Fisherman in Midah! Hence, we decided to call something unfamiliar such as the great Geoduck which a crazy friend of mine described as the "elephant's nose".

It does look like an elephant nose though...and erm..yah it's an expensive "nose"

A very big fish. If only I can have its head~ xD..and eyes 0.o

The food took quite some time. We guessed it's the geoduck that's causing the delay. Ever since I set eyes on the geoduck I was attracted by it's strange form. A large shell with a long...something... :S Anyways, it's a good thing the restaurant's filled with aquariums with fish and seafood of various sizes. Made me feel like I was in an underwater world tour >.< The food came at last. The taste of the geoduck wasn't as appealing and appetizing as I thought it would be =( and the dish was rather small despite the size of the geoduck itself. =(( Nevertheless, we had a good dinner...=) My mum suggested that we take the shell of the geoduck home as souvenir =.= so we began our attempt to remove the shell from the dish only to realize that the shell has been strongly glued to the plate itself =.=' I guess the only "souvenir" we can bring home is the food we ate. Which...will eventually be flushed down the toilet bowl =X

So, this is a late post with a wish:

Happy Birthday LL~!

By the way, the Super Junior concert was a blast..i'm pretty sure of it heh. I wasn't there in person but a picture do speak a thousand words, a video speaks even more. People who went came back awestruck. The next time they come I'm going! >< but I'm still more of a DBSK supporter lalala~

Toodles.

Boys will be boys

"There's only two things that will make a guy sad: money & girls"

Heard that phrase too many a times in those drama series I used to be religiously after.

On the other hand, we have equation for women like this:

I have, however, an "exposition" by boys..

Early this week we were asked to comment about anything regarding the University so that necessary adjustments and improvements can be made. A sheet of paper was passed around and whoever wishes to make his/her comments be known shall write on it.

By the time I took the paper, it's already filled with comments so I took the liberty to read...teehee. After having read the paper, my conclusion is:

"Boys will be boys oh yes they will"

Some of the written "comments" are:
"HUAT AH!"
"not enough girls"
"nelly rocks"
"more free parking/replace parking with sem break"
"enlarge the canteen. more choices of food and cheaper since we are students. RM 4.50 for maggi mee without EGG!! Ridiculous!! More parking at the "forest". -yada yada- replace the water filter.open more comp labs. -yada yada- change timetable...Jam la ='((( "

so much for "women are hard to please" =.=

Tsk tsk...boys~ :P
for clearer view..pardon the imprecision of the image >< sorry la poor camera ma

Anyways, something random:

Are you smarter than a 9 year old?

Q: RM 1,000,000.00 in words
A: one thousand-thousand

One thousand-thousand @.@ and I heard that from a student from uni..no offense but...lol~

Bridal Cars

note: I guess I've diverged/will diverge pretty much from the "theme" for this blog which is "Memories" because from now on, the contents of this blog will mostly be just some blabbing and random thoughts instead of the actual idea of blogging some memorable events ;) hehe.

My sister and I saw a bridal car today at our condominium. Not too long ago, bridal cars used to be what? Mercedes?

Lets look at the evolution of bridal cars:
Carriages --> Classic cars (ie: pontiac) --> Commercial cars (ie: BMW, Mercedes Benz) --> Luxury cars (ie: limo)

The one we saw today was an Alphard..then we started talking about bridal cars
sis: wah need such a big car or not oh...
me: auto door mar..nowadays ppl more high tech d
sis: ya hor..can save one angpao
me: but then...imagine if my bridal car next time's a lamborghini car! *fantasize*

[dont have photoshop so cant edit..=( ]

It's a cool idea to ride on a carriage too!! ^^ like that in those fairy tales..okay shall spare you my dilemma.. or should i say, my fantasies :P and no i'm not marrying anytime soon..

toodles~

Eighteen

'Cause when you're eighteen
And S.P.M tells you you made it
You're gonna believe it
And when you're eighteen feeling like there's nothing to figure out
Well, count to ten, take it in
This is life before you know who you're gonna be
Eighteen

Finally

Finally I update

Finally I am back in uni

Finally I have assignments, projects, reports, class tests

Finally I have to drive so far and get caught in jams because most of my classes are looong and they end late

Finally, I ain't complaining, just saying...finally

Who am I

Who am I, that the Lord of all the earth
Would care to know my name
Would care to feel my hurt
Who am I, that the bright and morning star
Would choose to light the way
For my ever wandering heart

Not because of who I am
But because of what You've done

Not because of what I've done

But because of who You are

I am a flower quickly fading
Here today and gone tomorrow
A wave tossed in the ocean
A vapour in the wind
Still You hear me when I'm calling
Lord You catch me when I'm falling
And You told me who I am
I am Yours
I am Yours

Who am I, that the eyes that see my sin
Would look on me with love and watch me rise again
Who am I, that the voice that calmed the sea
Would call out through the rain
And calm the storm in me

Whom shall I fear
Whom shall I fear
I am Yours
I am Yours

Knife

Mummy always told me not to play with knives since young. But somehow, someday, I would have to get a grip of it myself and learn how to use it well. In the process, there'll be cuts.
There are many knives in life that we've to learn to handle.

Mishaps are like knives that either serve us or cut us,
as we grasp them by the blade or the handle

So here comes my definition of persevere = persist when it's severe

Doctor

I believe that most of us at least had the ambition of becoming a doctor before.

No?

Those days in primary school, we're required to write down what our ambitions were, and then it would be recorded in a report card. There were always the three columns, means three choices of ambition. At that time, I knew of only a few "famous jobs" like doctor, teacher, nurse, engineer, accountant, police...
And I remember my first column was always doctor. Among my friends we would always peek at each others' ambitions and people always go "WAH!!" when you say your ambition's to be a doctor.

Generally, doctors have the detailed knowledge of the science of medicine, human health etc and are needed everywhere. We visit doctors in clinic when we're unwell and usually questions as such would be asked: "How are you feeling?" "How are you unwell?" sometimes even "What's your problem?"... and the doc would do a checkup, measure body temperature, listening to heartbeats and whatnot. Then we would be further questioned until the doc finds out the cause of our sickness.

Parents however are natural doctors. Let me tell you why...
They do the fastest medical checkup ever.

When I was younger...
KL: Pa, I have stomach ache..
Dad: Where? left side or right side?
KL: Not sure...
Dad: Because hor...after you eat you like to jump jump jump...your food jump to other places d. If not then you didn't go "ng ng" for a long time d..eat more bananas and papayas la..
(Medication/Advice: dont jump after eating, bananas, papayas)

KL: Ma, I have headache..
Mum: You see la, always sleep late, don't eat your vitamins, don't drink enough water..!Tonight you better sleep by 10pm!
(Medication/Advice: sleep early, eat vitamins, drink water)

KL: Ma, see I have a pimple here d..
Mum: You see la, always sleep late. Always sleep late the pimples will come out wun! And then ah, you drink so little water ah, your body don't have enough moisture also wun... all come out at your face lor...
(Medication/Advice: sleep early, drink a lot of water)

My parents are just so cute. My sisters and I always say "ceh then anyone also can be doctor d la!". However, I don't question the relevance of their advices.
So, sleep early! eat healthily! A healthy lifestyle cures most of the sickness ;) True!

Another cute doctor is:
Dr. Fish! (Garra rufa)
Expert in Ichthyotherapy

Now not just anyone can be a doctor. Anymal(animal) also can be a doctor. ;)

B.M

Salam sejahtera pembaca-pembaca sekalian.

Misalnya:
1. sangat & banyak = sangak
2. rumput = rumpus (plural form)
Aku marah dia tak beritahu aku lebih awal, macam ni kan boleh jimat masa dan tenaga aku semasa tulis karangan. (p/s bagi pelajar: jangan cuba ini semasa peperiksaan :P)

Aku perasan bahasa melayu aku semakin merosot.

Sekian, terima kasih.

Bahasa Jiwa Bangsa

Gunakanlah bahasa kebangsaan kita
Marilah amalkan ramai-ramai
Bahasalah menyatukan kita semua
Yakinlah bahasa jiwa bangsa
Marilah mari rakyat semua
Buktikan taat setia
Dengan satu bahasa
Maju bangsa dan maju negara
Megahkan bahasa kita
Bahasa jiwa bangsa

(yay i still remember the song :D)

Age

Idk why I still keep using the word "next year" to refer to 2010. It's always like that for the first few days of the year isn't it? Or is it just me? :(

No matter how many times I reiterate that I am STILL AND ONLY NINETEEN (thus, still a teen :D), people are just even more keen to burst my bubble and insist that I'm already 20 this year. As much as I hate to admit, yes technically I am 20 this year. But the fact remains that I just turned 19 okay! I cringe at the thought that I'm 20 already. It feels like age is catching up even faster now. :( It's not so much that I'm reluctant to get older, but I shudder when I think about the responsibilities and trials that follow. Yes, I am terrible with responsibilities and am still learning.

Back then when I was in kindergarden, I can't wait till I get into primary school. When I was in primary school, I can't wait to go to high school. When I was in high school, I look forward to go to college and university. But I won't say the same now. Heh :P Instead, I wish I get to go back to kindergarden. >.< To be just a kid, carefree, innocent and mischievous. Though idk if the word "innocent" still apply for kids these days. But I do know my nephew is!

ADORABLE!

He's aging too! And lost weight d :( I miss his "round-ness"

I realized, the evidence of my aging process is beginning to surface day by day.
Symptoms of Aging:
1. Deteriorating memory
-Mine sometimes beats that of my mum's
2. Deteriorating stamina
-Rigorous exercise makes me exhausted faster than before. Evidently while playing captain ball, badminton etc :P
Ok shall stop there.
But it's not all that bad.
Maturity comes with age. Well kinda, in a way. :)

Anyways, you know you're getting old when the candles cost more than the cake. Was at my relative's just now and we celebrated my uncle's belated birthday. On his cake there was only one small candle.
Reason being one candle indicates "one year older ONLY". =.= Not a bad idea.

Sidetrack:
Turkey today is sooooo much nicer!!!
How can you resist GOLDEN turkey!?!?
(it's homemade btw, so much better than San Francisco's!)

Caesar's salad

The feast

Oh ya! Aging is good for wine and whiskey :)

To conclude I would like to clarify, this post is not to impose fear towards aging. Rather, a comfort for all, knowing we'll all have our shares in life. Aging cannot be put to a halt, lets just all stay young at heart ;)

Turkey & Names

December's the happening month. No? In that month alone, two countdowns take place, school holidays are on, there's christmas, thanksgiving and new year's eve. Oh not to forget, my birthday too :D That makes me a happening person eh? B-)

Anyways, this must also be the month turkeys fear most.

Talk about fashion. How about dining fashion? Tis' the season to eat turkey ~
Today, people eat turkey on Christmas and Thanksgiving worldwide. And the reason goes way back when turkey was said to be "worthless" so to say than chicken(rooster's meat is hard and hens are needed for eggs) and geese(geese are just harder to raise), so turkey was served instead during holidays since it's cheaper. Now it's the other way round. Turkeys cost a bomb whilst chicken and geese are much cheaper. What seems to be the common dish last time seems like a "Star of the Feast" now and something people would actually look forward to during meal. Personally, I think chicken and geese taste better. My aunt bought a turkey from San Francisco for my family and we had turkey for dinner. I must say...

The leftover chicken rice tastes much better than

The turkey

The turkey meat was so gristly that it made chewing the most arduous effort. At one point, my mum's teeth cant even penetrate the meat but only managed to leave marks of the bites she attempted. Ok, not all turkey meat is as atrocious, but still, turkey meat is naturally dry. My family were then making assumptions: "maybe it's past the season d", "must be they put it in the freezer and bake again for us", "the turkey is old!".

Since everyone's eating turkey, so, out of curiosity, I found out that...
TURKEY IS NOT FROM TURKEY!
It's actually an American bird.
Why then is the American bird named after a Eurasian country?
It is said that the Spanish first found the bird in the America's more than 400 years ago and they brought it back to Europe via Turkey. The English mistakenly thought it was a bird they called a "turkey" so they gave it that name thereafter.

"What?! Like that also can?"

Talk about mistaken names, my family, or rather, my mother's side of the family have different surnames. My mum's surname is Than, her siblings have surnames like Dan, Tan, Seng etc. My mum explained that names were told verbally to the nurse so the nurse will just spell the baby's name based on whatever she heard. @.@ okayyy. Fine, if that's the case, I understand Dan, Tan, Than...they all sound similar..but Seng?! I guess that explains all the quirky names like Sum Ting Wong (something wrong), Chin Tu Fatt (chin too fat) and whatnot.

Now however, people seem to have same names. My secondary school used to have two suet leng/lings. My church has two wynn ian/win ian. Come to think of it, the older generation people have more originality in their names. Maybe the nurses can claim half the credit. :P (no offense)
By accident when I was blog hopping just now, I read a blog and the blogger's name is Kui Ling! Exactly the spelling. I got really excited because I've never known a person who possess the same name as I have all this while. The closest I know is the name of a place, one of the top tourist destination in China, Guilin, which...I have never been to :( It is said to be one of the most beautiful landscapes in Asia. I dare say, Kui Ling is also one of the most beautiful female in the world! :D

Oh wells, all I can say is, name your child well next time ;)
